The Hungarian steppe

It´s a fantastic feeling of freedom to be on the Hungarian steppe in national park Hortobágy. The Hungarian grasslands as a national that served also as inspiration to countless pieces of art, is the westernmost patch of the Eurasian steppe belt. In the 9th century the nomadic Hungarians arrived there from the East and were able to maintain their lifestyle and light cavalry warfare. The steppe provides pastures for large livestock to this day.
